  • Appearance: Deep red, wrinkled pods that are sun-dried or machine-dried to preserve flavor.
  • Usage: Usually soaked in hot water to soften before being blended into a paste for Nasi Lemak sambal, stir-fries, or stews.
  • Storage: Should be kept in a cool, dry place to prevent mold; many consumers store them in the refrigerator to extend shelf life.
